About Us
The Knitters Nest History
I started the shop in September, 1983 in a mini -mall in Cadillac. I started with mostly cross stitch, then got into more yarn.
I have knit for over 60 years-off and on when younger. But I learn new things all the time. I take classes, read a lot, and learn from my customers.
In 1989, my daughter, Melissa, and I moved to McBain and had a needlework and flower shop combined. Melissa did most all the flowers. I helped on holidays. Then in 1997 we both decided to move our businesses to our homes. I became the Knitters Nest and she became Tie the Knot Bouquets.
The business grew and I added a sunroom for classes. It now holds classes, patterns, needles, and notions. It's also an inviting place to sit and knit any time the shop is open.

Featured Product
We have needles from Rhode Island that were made by mentally challenged people. On the ends they have bird nests or a purple ribbon for pancreatic cancer. The proceeds from the sale of the purple ribbon ones go right to pancreatic cancer research. Everyone who has purchased these needles says they are very smooth and a joy to work with.
